This is the finished Great Blue!  I have applied the patina to the finished metal along with a protective clear coat and wax.  He is now ready for showing and I hope a new home.

Jim and Pip will be doing two shows in Western South Dakota over the next two weekends.

Please come and see them Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23 at the Art and Wine Festival in Main Street Square in Rapid City.

Or next weekend, June 29 and 30 at Sculpture in the Hills in Hill City, South Dakota.

I have been blogging about my progress on this blue heron in Facebook and am trying to switch over to my website blog. If you are reading the web blogs and don't do facebook, and you want to see the process pics just send me a note and I will transfer the other 19 pics to my website.

This is a pic of the completed Great Blue 5/15. I finished the metal work yesterday evening and it is ready for patina today.

This is my newest release this year, The Red Knot Cafe.  Red knot sandpipers time their long migration flight through our eastern seaboard to coincide with the yearly egg laying cycle of the horseshoe crabs.  Thousands of birds descend on beaches as the crabs come ashore to lay their eggs. I picture a big neon sign over the top of the crab that says "EAT HERE!”
