WOW, this year has been more than I bargained for.  To start out with, we increased my show schedule by adding three more shows through the year.  We also decided to sell our house and build a new one out in the styx.  I knew, but didn't really know, just how much work this was going to be.  OMG !  And it isn't over yet.  We have yet to break ground on the new house, but, the old house is now in someone else's good hands.  We have the property ready, and we are placed (temporarily) in an apartment while we work on the house.  On the up side we rented a two bedroom so that I can have a studio while we move. On top of that our good friends at Bodensteiner Beamworks has a corner of their shop that they are letting me use when I need shop space.

So, anyway, to the point of this blog post.  With all the other things going on, I have finished a new piece!!!  YAY!!!!  October 8, 2014 I finished the bust of "Elise".  She was my quickdraw subject with the Black Hills Raptor Center's Art on the Wing event this year.  This is an art event, fund raiser for them that is increasingly successful.  This year there were about a dozen artists who had 90 minutes to produce their art which was then auctioned off for the benefit of the Raptor Center.  I, of coarse, only roughed in my sculpture at the competition.  It was understood that my process needed much more time than 90 minutes will allow.  My patron this year purchased Elise in the ugly stage of sculpting just as my patron last year did with Sentry Duty.  Thank goodness for people willing to take a chance for a good cause.  It makes me want to pull out all the stops.  I hope that you like her.  Keep watching because she is going straight to molding and will be in metal very soon.  I wold like to get 1/20 to my patron first.  Then I want 2/20 for my big show coming up  in November at the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival in Thomasville, GA.  This should be a great place to unveil a new piece!
