Side by Side

I sculpted this pair of American Avocets for my son and my new daughter-in-law for their wedding.  I thought it very appropriate that these beautiful shore birds mate for life.  In their post mating ritual the pair will walk in lock step while rubbing bills, and the male will gently cover the female with his wing.  It is a beautiful tableau that I had no need to embellish in any way. A truly beautiful pair of birds captured in one of their most endearing moments.
