Rites of Spring

Rites of Spring is my newest addition to my portfolio.  This pair of Cedar Waxwings is performing one of their yearly pairing rituals by passing a fruit back and forth between the pair.  Waxwings are a familiar sight in the springtime as they migrate through in large numbers feeding on fruit that has overwintered on trees and shrubs.  These two charming birds are having their romantic encounter on a delicately arching dogwood tree branch.  It is a beautiful little piece that is attractive from every viewpoint.
