Arctic Huntress is my long awaited and often promised snowy owl.  She was named Best of Show in the 2016 SculptureWalk in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is now displayed for sale in Castlegar, British Columbia through April 2019.  

I sculpted this pair of American Avocets for my son and daughter-in-law for their wedding as a wish that they will spend their lives Side By Side. This sculpture was selected for the "Animals in Art Exhibition" at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine where it won Honorable Mention and the prestigious Dean's Choice Award.

"Sentry Duty" is a portrait of an eastern screech owl named Little Red Riding Hoot She was my model for the Black Hills Raptor Center's 2013 Art on the Wing quick draw art show and auction. This charming-fierce little lady would look sharp hanging on a building, by a door, or any place that will make you smile.  

"Great Blue" is a life size sculpture of a great blue heron and what I call the most common, uncommon bird in the country. Although they can be found almost anywhere there are wetlands; we always seem to be amazed to see such a large regal bird wading through the water so close to wherever we may live.

The frog is pretty fun too.

"Proud to be Puffin" is my life size depiction of an Atlantic puffin.  This proud little bird has every right to strut, any bird tough enough to winter in the open ocean, only coming to shore to breed every year has earned it. Thank you to Dr. Steve Kress and the hard working folks at the Audubon Puffin Project in Maine for working to save this amazing bird.

Marsh Song is a life size marsh wren perched on a cattail. I really like the presentation of this chattery little bird, it just says spring to me. I offered the piece in two heights. The shorter edition is 11" tall on a wooden base and is available. The taller version is 23" tall with a bronze base is SOLD OUT.

All hail the "Fisher King"! This wonderful bird was fun to sculpt and it is one of my favorite pieces. I especially like the fishing fly twisted around the branch. Actually she should be called Queen, since only the female belted kingfisher has the red belt. But, I like the play on words so I claim artistic license. 

Pelican Ahoy! is a life size sculpture of a brown pelican standing  on a pier piling.  This piece is well suited for inside or outside display and is sturdy enough for high traffic public areas.

The pelican's regal bearing and sharp eye make him a favorite of adults while that ridiculous mohawk make him a kids' favorite.

These two sculptures are both wall hanging plaques that depict burrowing owls, our only ground dwelling owl.

This is a little family of Clark's Grebes; wonderful diving ducks endemic to the western US. I have always been fascinated by the adult's mating rituals which include the famous synchronized water dancing. I love the way the parents carry their chicks on their backs like their more famous cousins the loons.

"The Red Knot Cafe" is a depiction of red knot sandpipers stopping on the last leg of their long migration to feed on eggs laid by horseshoe crabs along our eastern seaboard. It is a wonderful and threatened relationship between two amazing species.

These are editions that have sold out. My chicks (peeps) have been particularly popular!

Inside are a few pictures of a few of the placements that I have photographed.

This piping plover family is named "Plover Prints". The endangered piping plovers build their nests in depressions in sand or pebbled shorelines. Placing this family in a certain depression is my conservation hope for us and the birds. Truly cool little shore birds and a wonderful desk piece. 

"Nevermore" is my morning-pre-coffee-attitude. Actually this raven is only about half size because it started out as a maquette for a larger version which (as yet) has not come to pass.  That being said, I really like this raven, it is a great desk piece.

"Elise" is a bust of the red-tailed hawk named Elise who was my subject for the quickdraw held by the Black Hills Raptor Center for 2014. This bird is over twenty five years old, is still both fierce and curious about everything around her. She is a wonderful ambassador for the Center.

The sculpture makes a wonderful newel cap or bookcase guardian.  She is both fierce and curious.
